Caitlin - Financial Coordinator

Caitlin graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Health Care Management. This is her first experience with orthodontics and she really enjoys seeing the great improvements braces make to a person’s smile. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends, the outdoors and with husband Charles cheering on the Appalachian Mountaineers!

Connie - New Patient Coordinator

Connie, a native of Watauga County, is married to James Miller and has four children, Shreen (26), Candace (22),Yasamen (20) and Richard (10). When Connie is not spending time with her family you can find her in the kitchen baking goodies or snuggled up on the couch with a good book. Connie is enthusiastic about her job and enjoys helping new patients!

Dianne

Dianne has worked in orthodontics for close to 30 years. She has enjoyed watching the world of orthodontics change and improve. She is one of the treatment coordinators who will help you begin your journey into the realm of orthodontics. She is also a trained orthodontic assistant and enjoys working “hands on.” Dianne attributes her love of nature and the outdoors to the fact that she is a native of Boone. She enjoys running, knitting, reading, and most of all, following, her daughter, Laiken’s sports.

Kathy

Kathy was born and raised in Boone, but lived a short time in Australia! She attended Appalachian State University and began her career in orthodontics in 1983. She began working with Dr. Mayhew in 1989, and enjoys her orthodontic “family” so much; she will probably retire with them.

Kathy has one son, Tyler, whom she adores and will miss so much now that he is off to college to pursue a law degree. Kathy will be spending a lot of her time now with her horses, motorcycleriding (hopefully cross country), and looking for a Toby Keith “look-a-like,” who she has a secret love for!

Pam

Pam joined our office in 2007 and is a Boone native. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their daughter Miranda. In their spare time they love to go bike riding and river rafting along the New River.

Orthodontic Assistants

Tina - Deband Orthodontic Assistant/Bay Supervisor

Tina, a native of Florida, has lived in the Boone area for 25 years. She is married and has a teenage daughter that attends Watauga High School. Tina’s family loves spending time together enjoying the outdoors. Their activities include camping, boating, and much needed “deck time.”

Tina has been in orthodontics for 21 years and assists in the care of our orthodontic patients and ensures that things in the clinic are running smoothly. She is the assistant every patient loves to see. Tina does our “debandings.” That makes her one of our most popular assistants. Fortunately, every patient gets to sit in Tina’s chair.

Kim,Orthodontic Sterilization Coordinator

Kim, a Wilkes County native graduated from Wilkes Community College in 2008 from the dental assisting program. She is DANB certified in radiology, infection control and chariside assisting. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with husband Michael and son Devin, watching football, canoeing and enjoying time with family and friends.

Vickie

(OrthoCAD Specialist)
It won’t take you long to find out that Victoria is our resident clown. She always makes us laugh and makes all her patients feel like family. She has 30 years of orthodontic experience and is our expert in bracket placement. Vickie has trained orthodontists from coast to coast on how to use OrthoCAD. Vickie is one of the assistants who will put your braces on and she will ensure you will have a good time! She and her husband, Lesley, are natives of Boone. They have three daughters and three grandchildren. Vickie’s hobbies include horseback riding, golf and leading music at Perkinsville Baptist Church.

Amanda

Amanda and her husband, Nathan, are natives of Ashe County. She is active in her church, Smethpore Baptist, where she and her husband teach the young life sunday school class. Amanda enjoys watching her son, Seth, play football and basketball. Amanda and her family love the Pittsburg Steelers, although they are a split household when it comes to Duke and Carolina. Amanda is a Duke fan while her husband likes the Carolina Tarheels! Amanda and her family enjoy going camping and kayaking on the New River in Ashe County.

Debbie

Debbie’s enthusiasm for life certainly shows in the workplace! She loves to talk and her patients quickly get caught up in Debbie’s zealous personality. She and her husband, Tony, moved to Boone from California and have twin girls, Jamie and Briana. Debbie has many years of experience in orthodontics. She is very active, and enjoys weight lifting, dancing, singing and reading.

Andrea

Andrea is a certified orthodontic assistant. She joined our team in 1999 after moving here from Clearwater, Florida. With 30 years of experience, she still loves working in the orthodontic field. She now lives in Deep Gap with her four children. They enjoy movies, soccer, and hanging out at the park.

Jessica

Jessica is a 2007 graduate of the Dental Assisting Program at Wilkes Community College. She has a DANB certification in radiology, infection control and chairside assisting. Born in Australia she moved to North Carolina when she was five years old, along with her sister, Chantelle, who also works at the practice. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with the ones she loves most; watching Duke basketball, outdoor activities, board games and most of all photography! Jessica hopes to open her own photography studio one day.

Melissa

Melissa is a 2010 Dental Assisting Graduate from Wilkes Community College with DANB Certification in Radiography, Infection Control and Chairside Assisting. She is currently an Adjunct Instuctor at Wilkes Community College for the Dental Assisting Program. Melissa enjoys spending her free time with her son Bryson and the friends and family she holds dear to her heart. She enjoys relaxing motorcycle rides with Jamie, snow sledding, canning with her mother and any outdoor activities. She attends Dehart Baptist Church where she enjoys all the youth activities.

Luke

Luke moved to Boone from Rowan County. He has been working in orthodontics for two years and loves it. He plans to attend dental school when he graduates college. He enjoys interacting with patients and helping them acheive a great smile. His hobbies include snowboarding, playing music with friends and watching sports.

Olivia

Olivia is a 2012 Dental Assisting Graduate from Wilkes Community College with DANB Certification in Radiography, Infection Control and General Chairside. She is currently taking classes and has ambitions of becoming a Dental Hygientist in the near future. In her spare time Olivia enjoys spending time with her family and fiance, Ethan. She lives in Wilkes County and is an active member at Lewis Fork Baptist Church.

Connie - Lab Manager

You may not always see Connie in person, but she is the “heart and soul” of our practice. She attended Appalachian State University. She is a certified Pediatric Dental Assistant, Clinical Orthodontic Assistant, and assists Dr. Conn in hospital dentistry. She spends most of her time fabricating dental appliances for both the Orthodontic and Pediatric Clinics. She has been in the dental field for more than 30 years and has created beautiful smiles for the young and old alike. She enjoys all aspects of the dental field, but truly has a gift for the art of designing appliances unique to the patient’s specific need. She knows just how to “tweak” an arch wire to perform magic. In Connie’s spare time, she is truly an “outdoorswoman”. Connie is a great spectator for all sports and spends as much time as possible hunting (yes, hunting!) and fishing.

Shelly

Shelly grew up in the High Country and has worked in the medical/dental field for 22 years. She is married to Greg Russell and they have two sons, Dylan and Holden. She is one of the pediatric scheduling coordinators and is honored to be part of your child’s dental experience. Outside the office, Shelly enjoys hiking, hanging out with friends, spending time with her family and her Boxer, Cash.

Carol

Carol and her husband, Steve, have three children; Jessica, David and Steven. They are very active and spend a lot of time on the sidelines of their boys’ ballgames. Carol is one of our scheduling coordinators and will be happy to assist you in any way possible to coordinate your appointments with the rest of your busy life. She will always greet you with a smile and her warmth penetrates those around her. Carol attended school in Florida.

Meredith - Pediatric Assistant/Ordering Specialist

Meredith has been with the practice since completing her Dental Assisting training at Wilkes Community College in 1999. She assists Dr. Conn and is involved with inventory control. Meredith loves computers and is an “EBay” specialist. She enjoys the beach, swimming, photography, and scrapbooking. She moved to Wilkes Country from Alleghany after getting married in 2000 to her husband, Joey. She enjoys spending time with their daughter, Camryn and their Yorkie, Maggie.

Marilyn

Marilyn’s sweet smile and soft-spoken voice are a constant source of comfort at the office. Marilyn is the new patient coordinator and she has a way of comforting even the most anxious of patients. Young and old alike respond to the nature of Marilyn. Marilyn has a B.S. degree in Allied Health and Dental Hygiene. She has been in the dental field for more than 25 years. Marilyn and her husband, Mike, have two children. When Marilyn is not on the ball field, she enjoys gardening, cooking, music, walking and church activities. Her family stays close by attending Blue Grass Festivals and camping.

Ashley

Ashley works in the Pediatric Dental Clinic educating children in their oral health needs. She also enjoys working with our special needs patients who might need a little extra gentle touch. She joined our practice in April 2005 after completing the Dental Hygiene program at Catawba Valley Community College. She loves all types of sports and enjoys playing softball and volleyball. Ashley loves hanging out with friends and family and, especially spending time with her nephew Cooper.

Wyndy

Wyndy joined our practice in 2005 as our orthodontic sterilization specialist. She is now a pediatric dental assistant. Wyndy is very outgoing and loves to try new things. She enjoys going to the lake and spending time with her family and friends. Along with soaking in the sun, she enjoys waterskiing, wakeboarding and fishing. If she is not at the lake you can probably find her riding her ATV, playing paintball or watching a race. Wyndy recently moved into her own home and is settling in with her husband.

Nicole

Nicole graduated with a degree in Dental Assisting from WCC in 2009. She lives in North Wilkesboro with her  two dogs Bella and Brutus. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dogs, hiking and watching movies.

Stephanie

Stephanie, along with her husband, William, are both Boone natives. Stephanie graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1986. Following graduation Stephanie joined Drs. Mayhew and Conn and worked as a dental assistant for 12 and 1/2 years. She and her husband have three children. After the birth of her twins, she became a full-time Mom. She has recently re-joined our pediatric practice as a certified dental assistant. In addition to being a mom, wife and dental assistant, she teaches aerobic classes. In her free time she is the ultimate soccer, football, baseball, kung-fu and dance mom, cheering on her children. Stephanie is also an active member at Perkinsville Baptist Church.

Chantelle

Chantelle graduated from North Wilkes High School in 2006 and received her dental assistant certification from Wilkes Community College. Her sister Jessica also works at the practice and they moved from Australia to Wilkes when Chantelle was three-years-old. In her spare time Chantelle enjoys, four-wheeling, watching football and taking care of her son Hunter. Chantelle is outgoing and loves working with children, which makes her a great addition to the pediatric practice.

Pediatric Sterilization Coordinators

Kathy

Kathy is trained in the latest sterilization techniques and ensures that everything is running smoothly. She is one of the quietest members of our team, but what she doesn’t say, she makes up for in smiles. She will always greet you with a warm smile! Kathy, a Boone native, has two children. She is a very proud grandmother who enjoys spending every free minute with her grandchildren. Her hobbies include vacationing at the beach, walking, and spoiling her precious grandbabies.

Kayla

Kayla is currently attending Caldwell Community College and plans to transfer to pursue a degree in Dental Hygiene. She enjoys all the outdoor activities that the NC Mountains have to offer, especially skiing. She also enjoys playing the violin, which she has played since elementary school. Kayla enjoys spending time with her sweet nephew, Alton and her boyfriend Conor. Although she stays busy with friends and school work, she loves all of her family members and thinks of them daily.
