Our Staff

We are especially interested in making all our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment. Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Each member of our treatment team is a registered assistant, and our office staff has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care. We strive to stay abreast of the very latest in technology and advances by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars.

Financial Coordinator

Caitlin - Financial Coordinator

Caitlin graduated from Appalachian State University with a BS in Health Care Management.  This is her first experience with orthodontics and she really enjoys seeing the great improvements braces make to a person’s smile.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends, the outdoors and with husband Charles cheering on the Appalachian Mountaineers!

Carol - Pediatric Scheduling Coordinator

Carol and her husband, Steve, have three children; Jessica, David and Steven. They are very active and spend a lot of time on the sidelines of their boys’ ballgames. Carol is one of our Scheduling Coordinators and will be happy to assist you in any way possible to coordinate your appointments with the rest of your busy life. She will always greet you with a smile and her warmth penetrates those around her. Carol attended school in Florida.


Meredith - Pediatric Assistant/Ordering Specialist

Meredith has been with the practice since completing her Dental Assisting training at Wilkes Community College in 1999. She assists Dr. Conn and is involved with inventory control. Meredith loves computers and is an “EBay” specialist. She enjoys the beach, swimming, photography, and scrapbooking. She moved to Wilkes Country from Alleghany after getting married in 2000 to her husband, Joey.  She enjoys spending time with their daughter, Camryn and their Yorkie, Maggie.


Pediatric Hygiensts

Marilyn - Pediatric Hygienist

Marilyn’s sweet smile and soft-spoken voice are a constant source of comfort at the office. Marilyn is the New Patient Coordinator and she has a way of comforting even the most anxious of patients. Young and old alike respond to the nature of Marilyn. Marilyn has a B.S. degree in Allied Health and Dental Hygiene. She has been in the dental field for more than 25 years.  Marilyn and her husband, Mike, have two children. Marilyn, when not on the ball field, enjoys gardening, cooking, music, walking and church activities.  Her family stays close by attending Blue Grass Festivals and camping.


Ashley - Pediatric Dental Hygienist

Ashley works in the Pediatric Dental Clinic educating children in their oral health needs. She also enjoys working with our special needs patients who might need a little extra gentle touch. She joined our practice in April 2005 after completing the Dental Hygiene program at Catawba Valley Community College. She loves all types of sports and enjoys playing softball and volleyball. She loves hanging out with friends and family and especially spending time with her nephew Cooper.


Pediatric Assistants

Wyndy - Pediatric Dental Assistant

Wyndy joined our practice in 2005 as our orthodontic sterilization specialist.  She is now a Pediatric Dental Assistant.  Wyndy is very outgoing and loves to try new things. She enjoys going to the lake and spending time with her family and friends. Along with soaking in the sun, she enjoys to waterski, wake board and fish. If she is not at the lake you can probably find her riding her ATV, playing paintball or watching a race. Wyndy recently moved into her own home and is settling in with her finance. They plan to get married August 2009.



Sheena - Pediatric Dental Assistant

Sheena a native of Wilkes County, is one of our most recent additions to our practice. She graduated from Wilkes Community College in August of 2008 with a Certification in Chairside Dental Assisting. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family enjoying activities outdoors.

Stephanie - Pediatric Assistant

Stephanie, along with her husband, William, are both Boone natives. Stephanie graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1986. Following graduation Stephanie joined Drs Mayhew and Conn and worked as a dental assistant for 12 and 1/2 years. She and her husband have three children. After the birth of her twins, she became a full-time Mom. She has recently re-joined our pediatric practice as a certified dental assistant. In addition to being a mom, wife and dental assistant, she teaches aerobic classes. In her free time she is the ultimate soccer, football, baseball, kung-fu and dance mom, cheering on her children. Stephanie is also an active member at Perkinsville Baptist Church.


Chantelle - Pediatric Assistant

Chantelle graduated from North Wilkes High School in 2006 and and received her dental assistant certification from Wilkes Community College. Her sister Jessica also works at the practice and they moved from Australia to Wilkes when Chantelle was three years old. In her spare time Chantelle enjoys, four-wheeling, watching football and taking care of her son Hunter. Chantelle is outgoing and loves working with children making her a great addition to the pediatric practice.

Kathy - Pediatric Sterilization

Kathy is trained in the latest sterilization techniques and ensures that everything is running smoothly.  She is one of the quietest members of our team, but what she doesn’t say, makes up for in smiles.  She will always greet you with a warm smile! Kathy, a Boone native, has two children.  She is a very proud grandmother who enjoys spending every free minute with her grandchildren.  Her hobbies include vacationing at the beach, walking, and spoiling her precious grandbabies. 



Chris- Lab Tech

Chris is a senior at Appalachian State University. He plans to attend dental school to be an orthodontist after g raduating. In his free time he enjoys the great outdoors, hunting , fishing part icipating in competitive pistol and rifle shooting and collecting pocket knives. An interesting fact about Chris is that his grandparents immigrated from Italy and Chris is a dual citizen.
